About Me: Kasey
Kasey Lynch (she/her) is a feminist, music theory Ph.D. student, and noodle afficionado. She holds degrees in Music Education from Susquehanna University (B.M.) and in Music Theory from Tufts University (M.A.). Kasey’s research interests include feminist music theory, pedagogy, and vocal timbre; currently, she is working on an article on Chappell Roan and the AFAB drag queen! To procrastinate, Kasey finds joy in books, nail polish, thinking too much about aural skills, and long walks with her pup, Angus, and new fiancé, Marc.

She previously studied Piano Performance at St. Olaf College (B.M.) and Chicago College of Performing Arts (M.M.), and has several years experience as a collaborative pianist. Her interests include art song by women composers, vocal timbre in popular music, and feminist music theory. Kaitlyn has presented research at local, national, and international conferences, most recently her paper titled "Musical Myths of Gender: Rapunzel as a Postfeminist Princess" at the American Musicological Society annual meeting in Chicago (November 2024). She will also have a media review of Barbie: the Album published in the Journal of the Society of American Music very soon (forthcoming 2025)! Outside of music, Kaitlyn also enjoys reading, travelling, and hiking with her husband Andrew.
